CN- Cartoons Nomore by Iza-nagi CN- Cartoons Nomore by Iza-nagi

Update

Okay, time to update this, since it has been receiving lot of attention. First off, I wrote this at 2 am in the night so my grammar and stuff may not be top notch. Second of all, this has all been written on the point of view of an indian 15 year old boy, namely ME. While i respect all your views and comments on the new CN, you're forgetting the point of this piece of literature: Its my experience. Written from MY point of view.
I wonder how many of you actually read this tho... sigh.

END UPDATE

Here's something I wrote quickly, which takes you on a journey into my past as a kid. I had no internet back then, not many friends. All I had was the TV set and that rigorous schedule. *wink*
Please take your time and read through this.
This piece of writing is © Izanagi Aadi and is a part of my dissertation. Thought I'd share it with ya.

Changes... good or bad, one must accept them or adapt itself. No good cartoons now, then more anime in my pc, lol.

And what about all the children watching those crappy shows?

Instead they must see anime...

Ok, maybe not very good idea.

But that's the problem. For little childs, Discovery Kids is ok. After that... gues just anime or videogames remaining (Of course, sport is better, but not always could be practiced). Spore or minecraft offline could be useful for kids.

I really loved reading that. I too had my TV routine after school, and before. Times have certainly changed. Reading this, I was transported back to an earlier self where I couldn't wait to get home in time for my favourite programs. The nostalgic intimacy gives the reader that connection to the boy, you, making it much easier to envisage being in that scenario again, which makes this such a brilliant piece of literature. It's also wrote quite beautifully. It was channel 72 that I would come home too, and those were the best years of my life. Which is why, I've spent the past two years re-watching some of my old favourites. :)

Lovely piece. It really captures what it was like, sitting in front of the telly a few years ago.

I read through the comments, and a lot of opinions are being shared on how new CN has a few good shows, and a bunch of other things.
What I find interesting is that they all respond from a different perspective, when here in India we don't recieve any of those shows, there is no Toonami or adult swin, and hasn't been for many years. I don't think they could connect to your point of view, but reading this piece carefully makes me feel that it is an important window into a different perspective. The internet is a great thing. Keep improving! ^v^

I couldn't help smiling as I read this. I have very similar memories of when I was watching Pokemon.
I must say though, some shows I never really liked very much at the time. Maybe it was my age (I was WAY younger 15 at the time Hoenn was airing), but I always immersed myself in the world, and when I wasn't watching it, chances are I was having my own made-up adventures while daydreaming about Pokemon. I loved Code Lyoko and other shows at the time, but not much else. Other ones never really interested me.
Nowadays, I still find entertainment in watching a few of the shows, like Adventure Time, Regular Show, and Amazing World of Gumball (which is surprisingly fun to watch, at least to me). Adventure Time seems to capture my thirst to live in a fun, exciting world unlike the real one, kind of how I feel while I daydream, and at the same time it rouses deep feelings in me for its characters. Regular Show is the sort of thing you wish you could do with your friends, and Gumball is just funny, albeit childish, but I still like the antics. Everything else is just meh to me. I do go to Boomerang (now that I know what channel it's on) and watch some of the old ones that no longer air on Cartoon Network, like the original Teen Titans and the old Pokιmon.

I know Cartoon Network was awesome back then and that those days will always be good, but you can't let nostalgia limit your horizons. A lot of today's shows on Cartoon Network are actually pretty good. :iconpissedplz: Except for Problem Solverz and Max Steel.

I'm so happy that I'm not the only one that's broken-hearted over what C.N has become >.>" There's nothing wrong about it for all the newer generation, yet that makes me sad as well since they'll never understand nor be able to appreciate what we got to witness and immerse ourselves into. :aww: I miss the classics. Pokemon, Johnny Bravo, Ed Edd and Eddie.. lol even 2 Stupid Dogs !

C.N. used to be on my "favorites list".. now I don't even bother. It's been a good 3-4 years since I just stopped trying to browse C.N.'s list to see where the goodies were. Not saying there AREN'T any good shows on there! I hope no one takes any offense- this is, too, my PERSONAL opinion. =D

Very creative to write out a 2 am:laughing:! I enjoyed it immensely and it brought me back to MY "good ol' days"! THANK YOU FOR THAT  :glomp:

Ok, now that I get to read the dialogue (my iPad would not upload this for anything), I can now see why this is so important. I too remember that anxious feeling of wanting to see my favorite shows and how everything else in the world was basically not important becuase all that mattered was what was going to air and how much I loved it. :)

Now I am not even feeling that gig anymore :( I don't think anyone is. When the channel changed, it changed everyone that use to be right along with it in it's earlier days. The memories will always be there, that's for sure. At least we have those. ^^*

I agree with you wholeheartedly, but sadly, there's not much we can do about the new cartoons that have popped and are deteriorating the name of CN. The interest of the new generation is mostly what CN care about, and well, all us 90s kids should have moved on by now, according to them. They've a new bunch of 2000s kids to work with, whom have little to no experience of what the good shows were like, so these new shows will appear as good and will set a new guideline for them. We have the opportunity to compare, and so we see how badly CN has fallen, but the new kids don't know that. It's like when I talk to my 10 year old sister about the shows she watches, she's telling me about The Amazing World of Gumball, Wizards of Waverly Place and Victorious. I'm telling her abou how The Powerpuff Girls, Phil of the Future and The Amanda Show were so much better, but she won't ever truly get it. The new kids are coming in and they'll just adapt to whatever crap there is on TV nowadays. It's to be expected. And believe me, CN, Nick and Disney aren't worried about us. They'll get their money, regardless the value of their shows or not.
That said, I do miss a lot of the shows and anime that used to be aired. With exception to Adventure Time, which I find remarkably amusing for some reason, I really can't gut much of the other crap that goes on.
That's our cruel future, I suppose...

its life's cycle; i get what everyone is trying to say, defending us 90s kids. move on, old guy, your time is up; let us step in and experience our share of cartoon memories. But sadly, its just that the quality isnt matchable (i think i just invented a word haha) to the shows we used to see. i can argue about a lot of factors that come in play as to why the majority of the shows have poor quality, but that would just generate more debate, and i dont like people arguing on my art.
You quoted: "And believe me, CN, Nick and Disney aren't worried about us. They'll get their money, regardless the value of their shows or not." Thats true haha. Just about everything in this world has amounted to money. It makes me sad but thats just the way it is. No more "animating for fun" as WB used to do.... More and more of "animating cause this will take less time and generate more money."
I know, however, that the internet has enabled us to watch and rewatch everything that we love online. Trust me, where I live, internet shows are much needed since nothing is telecasted when it should be and in what language it should be. But that TV fun, those memories you mentioned... theyre all gone.

Sorry for the rant ^^;

Yes, very true.
I guess that all we may really do now is reminisce. Really, there's nothing we can do about it. It's all about the popularity and the profit now... You're right when you say it's saddening that they no longer animate for fun. Once the motives change, so does the value of these shows we once loved. I'm glad you were able to articulate your love for those old animations from your point of view, though. It was nice to relate to. It only breaks my heart though that it's hard to find some seriously good cartoons now for my own entertainment, and this just reinforces it... And yeah, if I do want something good to watch, then I have to re-watch what I can on the internet. It's sad that the appeal in upcoming cartoons is gone now, but there's really nothing we can do.
Good luck to those future CN kids. I hope they like what they have coming.
And it's no problem. I'm a rambler too. ;P

I've watched Cartoon Network from it's inception at only a year old, and I loved all the shows up until they started calling themselves CN, after the original Teen Titans show had been cancelled (around 2006-2008ish), and I can honestly say that they've fallen SO far from where they were. getting rid of Toonami and a number of popular shows proved that this show was going down the crapper, and I was not going to support it anymore. While a select few shows still play (Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry CLASSIC, and Cartoon Planet, along with the [adult swim]/Toonami returned block), I cannot support something that no longer produces truly quality entertainment. Sorry CN, but you fucked up by firing the original head of Cartoon Network, and replacing him with an asshole who cancelled all our beloved shows.
